Award-Winning Work

Associate Professor of History Mar Hicks won the 2019 Herbert Baxter Adams Prize from the American Historical Association for their book, Programmed Inequality: How Britain Discarded Women Technologists and Lost Its Edge in Computing (MIT Press, 2018).

Researchers Aim to Treat Sleep Apnea with Drug, Not Machines

IIT Research Institute Director and President David McCormick is developing a drug to treat sleep apnea, a condition affecting 30 million Americans. The idea is that individuals with sleep apnea take a pill about 15 minutes before bed and get about six to seven good hours of sleep where they have very few, if any, apneas.
